Actors Lee Yoo-young and Kim Sang-ho might join Kang Ha-neul in the JTBC drama Insider

According to reports by industry insiders, Lee Yoo-young has been cast as the female lead in the upcoming drama. In February, Kang Ha-neul (When the Camellia Blooms) was reported to be headlining the show. Kang Ha-neul recently made a special appearance in the show River Where the Moon Rises (2021).

Insider revolves around one man’s mission to turn every crisis into a growth opportunity and his struggle for revenge. Kang Ha-neul is set to play Kim Yo-han, a cautious and poker-faced apprentice at the Judicial Research and Training Institute. He finds himself betrayed by a trusted colleague during the course of an investigation, which sends his life spiraling downwards. Kim Yo-han vows to survive and change his fate. The show will deliver the hopeful message that even amidst the most desperate situations, only people can become miracles for each other.

Lee Yoo-young has reportedly been roped in to play Oh Soo-yeon, the manager of a shady entertainment facility in the red-light district of Gangnam. She uses her beauty as a gun and her brain as a sword. With the money and connections she has made in this business, she dabbles in various different fields. She chooses prisoner Kim Yo-han, who has the ability to read people, as her knife.

With this show, Lee Yoo-young will return to dramas after two years. She was last seen opposite Lee Min-ki in The Lies Within (2019). Last year, she briefly returned to the small screen in the episode titled The Prayer of the science-fiction anthology show SF8. She also starred opposite Lee Sang-yeob in the KBS Drama Special: Traces of Love (2020). She is best known for starring in Tunnel (2017), Your Honor (2018), and My Fellow Citizens (2019).

Actor Kim Sang-ho’s agency Just Entertainment also confirmed that the veteran actor was reviewing an offer to star in the drama. Kim Sang-ho has been offered the role of Mok Jin-hyung, a senior prosecutor at the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors’ Office. Kim has had a long and illustrious career in film and TV, with his most recent dramas being Nokdu Flower (2019), Alice (2020), Sweet Home (2020), and L.U.C.A.: The Beginning (2021).

Insider is a collaboration between screenwriter Moon Man-sae of Priest (2018–2019) fame and Min Yeon-hong, who directed the OCN drama Missing: The Other Side (2020). It is scheduled for broadcast in the second half of 2021.
