Singer and rising actor Lee Jun-young will join the cast of the upcoming Netflix original series D.P., his agency confirmed on September 10. As of writing, no further details about his role have been disclosed.
D.P., which stands for Deserter Pursuit, will center on Ahn Jun-ho (Jung Hae-in, A Piece of Your Mind), a skilled young private who gets assigned to a special unit tasked to track down soldiers who flee from their posts. Despite his quiet and calm nature, Jun-ho does not do well with changes and finds himself struggling to carry out his mission. Joining Jung as part of the main cast are Koo Kyo-hwan (Peninsula, *film) as desertion arrest unit leader Han Ho-yeol, Kim Sung-kyun (The Fiery Priest) as D.P. Unit Chief Park Beom-gu, and Son Seok-koo (Designated Survivor: 60 Days) as First Lieutenant Im Ji-seop.
Lee Jun-young, also known mononymously as Jun, made his debut in the entertainment industry in 2014 as a member of the boy band U-KISS. Three years after, he ventured into acting, landing a successful debut role in the tvN drama Avengers Social Club. He has since been adding more projects to his profile such as Class of Lies (2019) and Good Casting (2020). The actor has also signed up for lead roles in the upcoming miniseries Idol Doctor and MBC’s new rom-com Please Don’t Meet the Man, where he will star alongside Song Ha-yoon.
D.P. will bring to life the hit webtoon written by Kim Bo-tong. The adaptation will be led by Kim, who will serve as its screenwriter, and PD Han Jun-hee, who will co-pen the script and helm the series.
