Cast members of tvN’s upcoming psychological thriller series Flower of Evil, led by reuniting actors Lee Joon-gi and Moon Chae-won, have come together for the project’s first-ever table work.

Flower of Evil tells the story of Baek Hee-sung (Lee Joon-gi), a psychopath who takes on another person’s identity to lead a normal wedded life with his wife Cha Ji-won (Moon Chae-won), a homicide detective. Ji-won soon discovers that her husband, whom she has been devoted to for 14 years, is not the simple craftsman he claims to be. She sets out on a mission to dig up and expose his dark past in order to protect their daughter. Then begins an intense emotional struggle between the couple as they are confronted by a secret that can shake their harmonious marriage to the ground.

The session is said to have opened on a warm note after the attendees exchanged greetings. The cast members then immediately immersed into each of their roles to officially kick off the read-through.

Lee Joon-gi impressed the crowd for his convincing portrayal of the complex character Hee-sung. Likewise, Moon Chae-won was able to melt into her character Ji-won, capturing the role of a loving wife slash charismatic and passionate detective.

Since their previous team-up in the 2017 Korean adaptation of the American police procedural series Criminal Minds, both actors have gone on to work in various projects. Lee appeared in tvN’s 2018 legal drama Lawless Lawyer, and in the same year, Moon starred in the fantasy series Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter. In working for the current drama, the two have expressed their hopes of making it a piece that the viewers will remember for a long time.
