Lee Jong-suk cast as writer in rom-com ‘Romance Supplement’

Lee Jong Suk has announced on September 28 that he will be starring in a new tvN romantic comedy called Romance Supplement. The actor confirmed that he would be appearing in the upcoming drama, marking his first romantic comedy role since his debut in 2010.

Romance Supplement (working title) revolves around the lives of employees who work at a publishing company where Lee Jong-suk’s character, Cha Eun-ho, is working as a brilliant writer and the company’s youngest editor-in-chief. The drama will be directed by Lee Jung-hyo of Life on Mars and The Good Wife and written by Jung Hyun-jung of the I Need Romance series. Lee Jong-suk is a fan of both the director’s and screenwriter’s works, so he remarked that he is delighted to be able to work together with them.

Lee Jong-suk’s past dramas include the fantasy romance While You Were Sleeping (2017), fantasy thriller W-Two Worlds (2016), and romance drama Pinocchio (2014). His character in Romance Supplement marks his seventh leading role in a drama and his first rom-com role. He expressed his excitement about taking on the romantic comedy genre for the first time, saying that he will be able to show a new side of himself that is different from what he has shown up until now.

Romance Supplement is set to premiere in the first half of 2019.
