Lee Jin-wook and Lee Do-hyun have been courted to star in the TV adaptation of the thriller webtoon Sweet Home, an ongoing project of Mr. Sunshine director Lee Eung-bok that is scheduled to premiere on tvN in December.
Lee Jin-wook’s agency, BH Entertainment, said on August 8 that he is positively considering to headline the upcoming series. The actor made his most recent drama appearance as the lead in the 2019 crime thriller Voice 3. In 2018, he starred in the SBS thriller series Return which became the highest-rated terrestrial Korean drama that year.
Similarly, Lee Do-hyun’s label Yuehua Entertainment said on Wednesday that he is reviewing a lead role in Sweet Home. The rookie actor made his debut in 2017 through Prison Playbook and has since then appeared in Thirty But Seventeen (2018) and Clean With Passion For Now (2018-2019). He is playing a supporting role in the ongoing drama Hotel del Luna starring IU and Yeo Jin-goo.
The details of the roles offered to the two actors remain under wraps.
First released in January 2018, Sweet Home is an ongoing webtoon created by Youngchan Hwang and Carnby Kim. It centers on a reclusive high school student who has suffered from school violence and moved into a new apartment after an unexpected tragedy that killed his parents. The story focuses on the strange events that occur in his new place and how he will face “a reality where monsters are trying to wipe out humanity.”
Sweet Home is the first drama in three years that will be directed by PD Lee Eung-bok without famous screenwriter Kim Eun-sook in his production team. Lee has collaborated with Kim in producing his last three series—Mr. Sunshine (2018), Goblin (2016-2017), and Descendants of the Sun (2016)—which all achieved immense popularity locally and abroad.
Meanwhile, it was reported last April that Song Kang, who is starring in the original Netflix Korean drama Love Alarm, was also offered a lead role in Sweet Home.
