Lee Jae-wook has declined the offer to star in the upcoming romance drama from KBS2 Dalli and Gamjatang.
On February 10, Lee’s agency VAST Entertainment shared the news with media outlet Newsen, “Lee Jae-wook has decided not to appear in Dalli and Gamjatang after much [deliberation].” The actor was last seen in Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol (2020) and True Beauty (cameo, 2020–2021).
Dalli and Gamjatang will follow a clueless man who falls in love with a woman while trying to take away her family’s art museum. It will explore how these two people, who have nothing in common, begin to understand each other’s lives, along with things they have never experienced before, go through the process of growth and change, and spark an unexpected romance.
In January 2021, Lee Jae-wook was reported to have received a proposal to essay the character Jin Mu-hak. Mu-hak works at DonDon F&B Division, a global food corporation with 400 franchises that began as his family’s small gamja-tang (spicy pork backbone stew) restaurant. While he is the company’s managing director, he is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Lee was courted to star in the series with Sweet Home (2020) actress Park Gyu-young, who is in discussions to portray Kim Dal-li, Chungsong Art Museum’s director. Dal-li is described as an elegant woman whose hobby is studying. Apart from her fluency in seven languages, she is also knowledgeable in philosophy, arts, religion, and history.
At present, the production of the Dalli and Gamjatang is reportedly in the process of recasting for the male protagonist role.
Dalli and Gamjatang will be helmed by director Lee Jung-sub and written by Son Eun-hye and Park Se-eun.
