Actor Lee Hee-joon is currently being courted to star in the upcoming tvN action-thriller series Mouse, according to a representative from his agency, BH Entertainment.
Mouse is set in an era where technological advancements make it possible to identify future psychopaths through analyses of fetal DNA samples, each of which is taken while the baby is still inside the womb. It revolves around the dilemma that every expecting mother will face: whether or not she will give birth to her child even after knowing that they have the inherent genetic characteristics of a potential criminal.
Vagabond star Lee Seung-gi was previously confirmed to play the male protagonist Jung Ba-reum, an upright rookie police officer. If Lee Hee-joon accepts the offer, he will be suiting up as Go Moo-chi, a detective who partners up with Officer Jung to capture the inborn psychotic serial killer whose string of unimaginable murderous acts has sent havoc to the nation.
Lee Hee-joon started his entertainment career in theater arts with the play Oedipus (1999–2000). In 2007, the actor took a leap and began his journey in the field of television acting through a bit part in MBC’s psychological drama Que Sera, Sera. He furthered his experience by appearing in a series of drama specials in KBS2 as well as by portraying a few supporting roles here and there.
He landed his first lead role in Steal Heart (2014), but it was not until his remarkable performance in SBS’s small-screen hit Legend of the Blue Sea (2016–2017) that Lee Hee-joon gained international acclaim in K-dramaland. The actor most recently appeared in OCN’s romantic thriller series Mistress (2018). If he joins the cast, the viewers can expect to witness a great synergy between him and Lee Seung-gi in their first-ever co-leading project.
