In the released stills, Lee transforms into the fierce and gutsy homicide detective Goo Reum, who is determined to chase after the truth behind her parents’ disappearance. The photos unveil Goo Reum’s fearless and persistent side as she tackles case after case and pursues criminals. Her burning passion for the truth beams in her sharp and cold eyes as she holds a gun and aims it at the person in front of her, not showing a hint of fear and hesitation. Despite all the cuts and wounds all over her body, her spirit and determination do not waver as she carries on with her pursuit for the truth.

Drama fans have expressed their excitement about the drama as the team-up and undeniable chemistry of the lead stars are already sparking up expectations in various online platforms. Lee Da-hee last starred in Beauty Inside (2018) and Search: WWW (2019). Meanwhile, L.U.C.A.: The Beginning will be Kim Rae-won’s first drama in four years, following his last starring roles in Doctors (2016) and Black Knight: The Man Who Guards Me (2017). Other notable actors who are in the cast are Kim Sang-ho from Kingdom (seasons 1 and 2/2019, 2020) and Sweet Home (2020) and Kim Sung-oh from A Korean Odyssey (2017) and Graceful Friends (2020).

Lee shared how she came up to play the role, saying, “I like both the genre and the character (Goo Reum), but I was more convinced because it was director Kim Hong-sun and writer Chun Sung-il who will head the production.” At the same time, the actress expressed her affection for her character, saying, “(Goo Reum) is an active rather than passive character, but I find her personality cool and refreshing.

L.U.C.A.: The Beginning is helmed by PD Kim Hong-sun of The Guest (2018) and Metamorphosis (*film, 2019), and penned by writer Chun Sung-il of The Package (2017) and Your Honor (2018). The series will be tvN’s first new entry in its Monday-Tuesday drama slot for 2021, following the conclusion of Awaken.

It was Princess Lulu who first introduced her to Korean dramas but it was Yoon Ji-hoo from Boys Over Flowers who enticed her to stay in K-dramaland. She writes news and features for Kdramapal, which combines two of her most favorite things in the world—writing and K-dramas (look who's living the dream). The name Luna literally translates to "moon" and nothing special; she just likes writing at night.
