The new webtoon-based disaster film Concrete Utopia has officially started its principal photography on April 16.
Along with the shooting announcement, the production also released the stills of lead stars Lee Byung-hun, Park Seo-joon, and Park Bo-young from the movie’s table read.
Concrete Utopia tells the story of earthquake survivors who have gathered in the residential complex called Imperial Palace Apartment, the only building in Seoul that has survived the catastrophe.
Lee Byung-hun (The Man Standing Next) plays Yeong-tak, a temporary resident representative who will lead the survivors through the crisis. Yeong-tak is determined and action-driven. He is willing to do whatever it takes to protect those in the complex from the outsiders who are trying to invade them.
To ensure the safety of the residents, Yeong-tak enlists the help of Min-seong (Park Seo-joon, The Divine Fury). Min-seong is a public servant and a caring husband to Myeong-hwa. His character is expected to show a bolder and tougher personality in the face of adversity.
Suiting up as his wife Myeong-hwa is On Your Wedding Day (2018) actress Park Bo-young. Myeong-hwa is a level-headed and skilled nurse who takes care of the injured.
Concrete Utopia will reportedly launch Lotte Entertainment and Climax Studio’s plans to develop a wide range of stories that will showcase narratives of survivors in various platforms, including movies and dramas.
