LABOUM’s Solbin courted for JTBC’s ‘Idol: The Coup’

Girl group LABOUMs member Solbin is in talks to star in the upcoming JTBC drama Idol: The Coup.

Solbin’s agency Global H confirmed in a statement to the media that the idol-turned-actress has been offered a role in the drama and is currently reviewing it.

Idol: The Coup will follow failed idols as they desperately seek opportunities to become successful before having to disband. It will tell the story of how young people are forced to mature and gather the courage to follow different paths in life.

So far, EXID’s Hani (Not Yet 30), Kwak Si-yang (Alice), and Kim Min-kyu (Pop Out Boy!) have been confirmed as the main cast of the drama.

Ahn Sol-bin, known as just Solbin, debuted with LABOUM in 2014. Besides being an idol, she has made a mark in dramas through her performances in Solomon’s Perjury (2016–2017), Into the World Again (2017), Nice Witch (2018), and Backstreet Rookie (2020).

Idol: The Coup is a Korean-American joint production by Transparent Arts, Take2 Media Group, and JTBC Studios. It will be directed by Noh Jong-chan (Clean With Passion for Now), while the script has been penned by Jung Yoon-jung (Misaeng: Incomplete Life).
