Kyung Soo-jin (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo) and TVXQ’s Yunho (Records of a Night Watchman) will be playing the lead roles in Meloholic, a new drama by Oh Hae Young Again and Introverted Boss PD Song Hyun-wook.
Meloholic is a “romantic mystery comedy” based on a Naver webtoon of the same name that centers on the story of a man who has the ability to read people’s minds. Yunho is confirmed to portray that character, named Yoo Eun-ho, who is described as someone who makes the women’s heart flutter but refuses to date anyone until he meets Han Ye-ri. Kyung Soo-jin will play the role of Han Ye-ri, a woman who has never dated because of her two-faced personality.
Meloholic is Yunho’s first television project after he completed his mandatory military service last April. The first drama he starred in was the 2006 miniseries titled Banjun Theater where he and the other members of TVXQ took part of. The group filmed another drama series called Vacation. TVXQ had an indefinite hiatus so he started to work on his acting career in September 2009. He landed the lead role in the drama Heading to the Ground and in 2010, he began shooting the action television series titled Poseidon. However, Poseidon was dropped by SBS in 2011 due to the postponement of the production over the weather condition. Later, KBS picked up the drama but Yunho had other commitments during that time so his schedule did not permit him to take on the role for the series.
In 2013, he starred in King of Ambition, which won him the People’s Choice Actor Award during the 2013 Seoul International Drama Awards. In 2014, he played the second male lead in the drama The Night Watchman’s Journal.
Meanwhile, Kyung Soo-jin’s first small screen project was in 2012 when she played the role of a teenager for the series Man From the Equator. She took on the role of Prince Sohyun’s wife on Horse Doctor also in 2012. In the following year, she became part of SBS’s That Winter, The Wind Blows and KBS’s Don’t Look Back: The Legend of Orpheus. She also starred in the 2014 JTBC drama Secret Love Affair and tvN drama Age Ending in Nine Boy. Her most recent project is Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo wherein she starred as a rhythmic gymnast.
KBS Media, which produced the hit Moonlight drawn by Clouds, will produce Meloholic. The filming for the drama is set to start by the last week of May.
