Kwon Na-ra courted for upcoming historical drama

Kwon Na-ra is in talks for her first historical drama!

On June 26, the actress’ agency A-MAN Project confirmed that she had been offered the lead role in the upcoming drama New Secret Royal Inspector and is reviewing the offer.

New Secret Royal Inspector is set in the Joseon era and tells the story of secret royal inspectors who were appointed by the King to keep an eye on corruption among his officials. These inspectors are required to travel to provinces, while keeping their identities hidden, and report about the issues plaguing common people. Kim Myung-soo (Welcome/Meow: The Secret Boy), better known as boy group Infinite’s L, has been offered the lead role of the secret royal inspector Sung Lee-kyeom.

Kwon Na-ra, meanwhile, has been offered the role of Hong Da-in, a gorgeous and cunning gisaeng (highly trained courtesan) trained in dance and music and known for being brave. Formerly of the K-pop girl group Hello Venus, Kwon debuted with cameo roles in dramas like Take Care of Us, Captain (2012) and After School: Lucky or Not (2013). She then went on to snag main roles in major dramas like Suspicious Partner (2017) and Doctor Prisoner (2019). She was last seen in this year’s Itaewon Class. If she agrees to star in the project, this will be her first role in a historical drama.

New Secret Royal Inspector will be helmed by Kim Jung-min, who has previously directed Selection: The War Between Women (2019–2020) and Sweet Stranger and Me (2016). The script will be penned by Park Sung-hoon and Kang Min-sun.
