Actor Koo Ja-sung has officially joined the cast of the new drama Desire.
Desire is the first-ever drama of iHQ Inc., a talent management agency in Korea, under Channel IHQ. The drama is a full-fledged romance thriller about people who have different desires, whether it is success, revenge, family, or love. Actors Lee Ji-hoon (River Where the Moon Rises), Han Chae-young (A Pledge to God), and Ji Yi-soo (When the Camellia Blooms) were previously confirmed to star in the drama.
Koo will be playing the role of Hyun Seung-hoon, a diligent person who has to work day and night to support his family after quitting football due to an injury. Koo, who officially debuted as a drama actor in 2018, has only appeared in four dramas so far: Misty (2018), Room No. 9 (2018), The Secret Life of My Secretary (2019), and Was It Love? (2020). He also appeared in the 2007 film Milky Way Liberation Front as an extra.
Desire will be produced as a collaboration between iHQ and Victory Contents, the producer of dramas such as Empress Ki (2013–2014), Angel’s Last Mission: Love (2019), Woman of 9.9 Billion (2019–2020), River Where the Moon Rises (2021), and At a Distance, Spring is Green (2021).
Desire aims to air in the second half of the year. It will be directed by Kwak Gi-won of Marriage Clinic: Love and War (2008) and penned by screenwriter Park Gye-hyung. This will serve as their reunion project after working together in the 2018 drama It’s My Life.
