Kim Young-kwang has officially signed up for an onscreen pairing with actress Choi Kang-hee in KBS2’s upcoming fantasy rom-com series Hello? It’s Me! This exciting news was confirmed by Kim’s agency WIDE-S Company earlier today, October 19.
Hello? It’s Me! will tell the story of Ban Ha-ni (Choi Kang-hee, Good Casting), a 37-year-old woman who finds herself at a confusing phase in her middle-age life. Unable to successfully engage in any sort of romantic relationship with a man, Ha-ni has remained single and unmarried. She is even convinced that the only certain thing about her future is aging. Adding fuel to her insecurities is her unstable job post at Mana Confectionery, yet nobody seems to care enough about her problems. In a desperate attempt to find happiness and self-worth, Ba-ni sets her eyes on a potential promotion at work. She puts her game face on, a squid-shaped mask over it, and dances like crazy while singing promotional songs for the company’s newly developed sweets. Ha-ni’s fate takes an unexpected twist, however, when her youthful and bright 17-year-old self magically appears before her.
Kim Young-kwang will suit up as Han Yoo-hyun, the second son of Mana Confectionery’s chairman. Due to his carefree and easygoing disposition, he unexpectedly becomes bankrupt and in-debt overnight. As a consequence, he is exiled abroad to study and is later made to agree to pay all the money that he spent overseas before could come back. In order to fulfill that condition, he takes a 180-degree shift from the life that he used to have, but it eventually leads him to Ha-ni.
After beginning his career in the entertainment industry as a model for world-famous designers, Kim Young-kwang tried his luck in the field of television acting through a support role in World’s Within (2008). Now, he has become one of the most popular lead actors of his generation and is best known for his praise-worthy performances in the series D-Day (2015), Sweet Stranger and Me (2016), Gogh, the Starry Night (2016), Lookout (2017), Room No. 9 (2018), and The Secret Life of My Secretary (2019). On his next character, Kim is expected to display another laudable portrayal and solidify his reputation as a skilled actor.
Hello? It’s Me! will be helmed by director Lee Hyun-suk of Liver or Die (2019) and penned by screenwriter Yoo Song-yi. Under the co-production of Beyond J and Acemaker Movie Works, the drama aims to premiere in January 2021.
