Kim Yoo-jung is a bubbly part-timer in new stills from ‘Backstreet Rookie’

Gearing up for its June 19 premiere, the new SBS rom-com series Backstreet Rookie has dropped another set of stills of its main lady Kim Yoo-jung.

Backstreet Rookie, based on the webtoon “Convenience Store Saet-byul,” tells the comical love story of Choi Dae-hyun (Ji Chang-wook, Melting Me Softly), a 24-hour convenience store owner who is a bit uncanny and clumsy, and Jung Saet-byul (Kim Yoo-jung, Clean with Passion for Now), a charming university student with a strong personality who works part-time at Dae-hyun’s convenience store.

In the newly released stills, Saet-byul is bright-faced and all smiles as she works. From the background of the photos, it seems that Saet-byul is in one of her part-time jobs. With her girly ensemble of a light blue shirt and white skirt, she does not shy away from hard work as she wheels in things to the restaurant. In another photo, she proves herself as the “Queen of Promotions,” as she chats away with the diners, with her co-worker wearing a promotional costume right behind her. The photos pique the viewers’ curiosity on whether she has another part-time job aside from her night-shift work at Dae-hyun’s 24-hour store.

The production team shared that the viewers can look forward to seeing Kim Yoo-jung’s charm in the drama. They said, “Laughter never stopped at the scene due to Kim Yoo-jung’s passion in [capturing the character] of Jung Saet-byul, who is working as a promotional part-timer, in a brilliant and loving way. Viewers will also fall in love with the loveliness of Yoo-jung.”

Backstreet Rookie will take over as SBS’s newest Friday-Saturday drama starting June 19. It will replace the recently concluded The King: Eternal Monarch in its 10 p.m. KST time slot.
