Popular celebrities Kim Tae-ri and Nam Joo-hyuk are being courted to headline the upcoming romance drama Twenty-Five Twenty-One (working title).
Kim’s agency J,Wide-Company revealed to Korean news outlets, “Kim Tae-ri has received a proposal to lead the new drama Twenty-Five Twenty-One, and it is now under positive review.” Similarly, Management SOOP stated on behalf of Nam, “Nam Joo-hyuk has received an offer to appear in the series and is currently considering it.”
Twenty-Five Twenty-One is described as a story of youth and love, centering on a man and a woman who met in the midst of the chaotic financial crisis in South Korea in 1998.
Kim Tae-ri is an award-winning film actress who rose to international stardom for her daring debut role in the critically acclaimed film The Handmaiden (2016). She also made a name for herself in the field of television acting through her unforgettable role in Mr. Sunshine (2018), the second highest-rated Korean cable drama of all time. On the other hand, Nam Joo-hyuk is a small-screen icon who is known for his portrayals in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo (2016–2017), The Light in Your Eyes (2019), and Start-Up (2020). If the two decide to take on the project, they will reportedly transform into a fencing prodigy and a sports reporter, respectively.
Twenty-Five Twenty-One will be spearheaded by PD Jung Ji-hyun and Kwon Do-eun, the director-screenwriter duo behind the 2019 drama Search: WWW. Produced by Hwa&Dam Pictures, the series is now in the process of casting and targets to air in the first half of next year.
