Kim Soo-hyun offered lead role in new romance drama from PD of ‘Encounter’

Kim Soo-hyun is in talks to star in a new tvN drama titled Psycho But It’s Okay, a source from his agency, KeyEast, revealed on Thursday.

The source said that the upcoming series is just one of the many projects Kim Soo-hyun is currently considering.

Psycho But It’s Okay tells the love story of a community health worker at a psychiatric ward and a storybook writer with an antisocial personality disorder. Despite their differing views on love and relationships, the two end up beginning a romance that defies their fate.

Kim Soo-hyun is reviewing the role of the community health worker named Moon Kang-tae, who is described as someone blessed with everything including good looks, intellect, and an ability to sympathize with other people. He has an elder brother who shows symptoms of autism. The released character description also mentions that Moon Kang-tae lives on 1.8 million won ($1,520) per month.

Meanwhile, the lead female role has reportedly been offered to Park Shin-hye, who headlined the fantasy drama Memories Of The Alhambra (2018-2019) opposite Hyun Bin.

If Kim Soo-hyun accepts the offer, Psycho But It’s Okay will become his first drama in four years, following The Producers (2015). The actor starred in the 2017 action-noir film Real before starting his mandatory military service in October of that year. He was discharged from the service on July 1, 2019.

The actor recently made a cameo in the hit fantasy drama Hotel del Luna. He also starred in two of the most popular and highest-rated Korean dramas since 2010—My Love From The Star (2013-2014) and Moon Embracing The Sun (2012).

Psycho But It’s Okay is the latest project of PD Park Shin-woo, who directed Encounter (2018) and Jealousy Incarnate (2016), and screenwriter Jo Yong-hae who penned Jugglers (2017-2018). It is set to be broadcast in the first half of 2020.
