Actress Kim So-jin might appear in a new drama soon!
According to a news report by Korean media outlet Chosun, the actress is in talks to join the cast of SBS’s Those Who Read Hearts of Evil, based on a book of the same name that tells the story of Kwon Il-yong—South Korea’s first criminal profiler. The story will chronicle the rise of criminal profiling in an era when “profiling” and “psychopath” were unfamiliar concepts.
The Fiery Priest’s (2019) Kim Nam-gil is in discussions to take the lead role of the criminal profiler in the forensic criminal behavior analysis team. Kim So-jin, on the other hand, has reportedly been offered the role of the head of Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s mobile investigative team. She is one of the few women in a team of hot-tempered male officers and attempts to look at each case with a balanced view. She is also someone who trusts the criminal profiler’s analysis.
Kim So-jin began her acting career on the theater stage. She rose to fame through the films The Terror Live (2013) and The King (2017). Her role as a prosecutor in the Jo In-sung starrer The King won her South Korea’s top acting awards for Best Supporting Actress, including in the Blue Dragon Film Awards, Grand Bell Awards, and Baeksang Arts Awards. She is slated to appear in Parasite actor Song Kang-ho’s disaster film Emergency Declaration.
As far as her television career goes, Kim only has one drama to her credit—Marriage Contract (2016). Saying yes to this role will mark her small screen return in almost five years.
Those Who Read Hearts of Evil has been scripted by writer Seol Yi-na and is tentatively scheduled to air in the second half of 2021.
