Kim Seo-hyung signs exclusive contract with KeyEast Entertainment after controversial strife with former agency

Versatile actress Kim Seo-hyung has finally found her new home in KeyEast Entertainment.

On October 12, a representative from KeyEast Ent. remarked on this exciting milestone in Kim’s career, “It is an honor for us to be with Kim Seo-hyung, an actress who has built a solid position in the industry through her charismatic acting skills and aura. We will continue to support her and help her get a stable inflow of projects.”

A few months earlier, Kim was involved in an ugly dispute with her former handler and management agency, Madi Pictures. The actress filed a request to terminate her contract with the company on grounds of violation of trust. In response to the allegations, Madi Pictures fired back with an accusation against the actress, detailing that she took advantage of her power and used excessive profanity against the company’s CEO.

Kim Seo-hyung spent her initial years in television entertainment playing support roles in the popular dramas Lovers in Paris (2004), Green Rose (2005), and Dear Lover (2007). In 2008, she gained wider recognition for her bold role in the domestic hit series Temptation of Wife, which later became famous overseas and inspired drama remakes. Since then, Kim has been journeying further into the acting field and had so far breathed life into unforgettable characters, such as in Empress Ki (2013–2014) and SKY Castle (2018–2019). She even earned a nomination for Best Actress at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards for her laudable performance in the latter. This year, Kim graced the small screen with her first solo lead role in SBS’s mystery-thriller series Nobody Knows.

In the world of movies, Kim won the distinction for Best Lead Actress in a Foreign Language Film at the 3rd Madrid International Film Festival for her portrayal in Late Spring (2014). She then gained the critics’ positive attention for her role in The Villainess (2017) during its world premiere at the 70th Cannes Film Festival. As an acknowledgment of her contributions to raising the status of South Korea’s culture and arts, Kim was granted the Prime Minister’s Commendation at the 10th Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards.

KeyEast Entertainment or KeyEast Co., Ltd. represents a talented pool of household names, including stars Ju Ji-hoon (Hyena), Park Ha-sun (Love Affairs in the Afternoon), Han Sun-hwa (Backstreet Rookie), Jung Eun-chae (The King: Eternal Monarch), Moon Ga-young (Find Me in Your Memory), and Woo Do-hwan (The King: Eternal Monarch), among many others.
