Kim Nam-gil confirmed for SBS’s upcoming crime thriller

Actor Kim Nam-gil is confirmed to lead the upcoming SBS drama Those Who Read Hearts of Evil (literal title).

Those Who Read Hearts of Evil is a crime thriller based on a book written by Go Na-moo and Kwon Il-yong. Kwon is known as one of the first criminal profilers in South Korea who helped profile several notorious criminals in the 2000s. The show will revolve around profilers trying to read the minds of serial killers at the peak of evil.

Those Who Read Hearts of Evil’s script has been penned by Seol Yi-na, while Park Bo-ram will serve as the series’ director. Jin Seon-kyu (Kingdom 2) and Kim So-jin (Marriage Contract) are also being courted for the drama.

Kim Nam-gil will play Song Ha-young, a profiler who can dig deeper into the minds of serial killers than anyone else. He will track killers using a mixture of brains and charisma.

After solid performances in dramas across genres, like The Fiery Priest (2019), Live Up to Your Name (2017), Don’t Look Back: The Legend of Orpheus (2013), Bad Guy (2010), and The Great Queen Seondeok (2009), Kim has established himself as a dependable actor. His transformation into a criminal profiler is being hotly anticipated. Kim is also awaiting release of his upcoming disaster film Emergency Declaration.

Those Who Read Hearts of Evil will begin filming as soon as casting is finalized. After wrapping this up, Kim will film OCN’s fantasy drama Island, after it was moved to the second half of the year due to controversies involving previous lead actress Seo Yea-ji. Currently, actress Lee Da-hee is being courted to play the female lead opposite Kim Nam-gil.
