Kim Myung-soo to enlist in the Marine Corps in February

Singer and actor Kim Myung-soo, who is currently appearing in the KBS2 historical drama Royal Secret Agent, will begin his mandatory military service next month, February 22.

Kim’s agency Management Esang revealed that the actor voluntarily applied for the Marine Corps and passed the exam, having recently received his acceptance. Kim will be joining the prestigious ROK (Republic of Korea) Marine Corps as a member. He will be starting out at the Marine Corps Education and Training Group in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province of South Korea.

Prior to enlisting, Kim has prepared gifts for his fans to remember him by. He will be releasing a debut single titled “Memory.” This will be Kim’s first solo song in over a decade of his career as an idol. He will also hold an online fan meeting on February 20 called “2021 Kim Myung-soo On-tact Fan Meeting – Remember Us.” Kim is revealed to be working hard on preparing the fan meeting despite being busy with the filming of his drama. He is expected to share his thoughts about serving military duty during the fan meeting.

Kim Myung-soo debuted in 2010 as a member of Woolim Entertainment’s seven-member boy group Infinite, under the stage name L. He made his acting debut with a Japanese drama Jiu – Special Investigation Team (2011), following it up with a role in tvN’s hit teen romance series Shut Up Flower Boy Band (2012). Over the years, he has established himself as a fine actor through dramas like My Lovely Girl (2014), The Emperor: Owner of the Mask (2017), Ms. Hammurabi (2018), and Angel’s Last Mission: Love (2019).

In 2019, Kim left his original label Woolim Entertainment to focus on his acting career while continuing to remain as a part of Infinite. His currently airing drama, Royal Secret Agent, is making waves by becoming the first KBS2 drama Monday-Tuesday drama to surpass double-digit ratings in three years. The drama also stars Kwon Na-ra (Itaewon Class) and Lee Yi-kyung (Welcome to Waikiki 2). Catch up with Royal Secret Agent here.
