Rising actress Kim Hye-yoon is officially joining K-pop superstar and first-time lead actress Jisoo in headlining the new series Snowdrop, the same project actor Jung Hae-in is currently in talks for!
Following her remarkable performance in the JTBC satirical drama SKY Castle (2018–2019), which earned her the distinction as Best New Actress at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards, Kim Hye-yoon went on to play her first lead role in the webtoon-based school fantasy series Extraordinary You (2019). In Snowdrop, she is set to reunite with the makers of SKY Castle (currently fourth on KDramaPal’s list of highest-rated Korean cable dramas of all time): director Jo Hyun-tak, also named Best Director at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards, and screenwriter Yoo Hyun-mi. Currently, Kim is preparing to grace the big screen in the upcoming movie The Girl Riding a Bulldozer (working title), where she will be acting alongside Super Junior’s Yesung.
Meanwhile, recent media reports have revealed that Jung Hae-in has also been cast for a lead role in Snowdrop, but his agency FNC Entertainment has clarified that the drama remains to be among the several works Jung is still reviewing at present. The actor is best known for his portrayals in the series While You Were Sleeping (2017), Prison Playbook (2017–2018), Something in the Rain (2018), One Spring Night (2019), and the latest, tvN’s melodrama A Piece of Your Mind (2020).
Previously, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has been confirmed to star as one of the female leads. Though details about their characters as well as other information about the upcoming drama are still being kept under wraps, the exciting team-up of Jisoo and Kim Hye-yoon, which could get even more sensational with Jung Hae-in’s participation, is already amping up the viewers’ curiosity and expectations for the series.
Snowdrop is under discussion to broadcast on JTBC.
