Kim Eui-sung switches back from sweet to ruthless in new stills from ‘Taxi Driver’

Veteran actor Kim Eui-sung is showing some serious character transformation in the new stills from the upcoming drama Taxi Driver.

SBS’s new Friday and Saturday webtoon-based drama revolves around a private taxi company called Rainbow Transport and its employees who out carry revenge orders for its clients. It centers on its drama slogan that says, “In a society where justice is missing, a phone call is all you need.” It stars Lee Je-hoon (Where Stars Land), Esom (Save Me 2), Kim Eui-sung (Arthdal Chronicles), April’s Naeun (Extraordinary You), Jang Hyuk-jin (Awaken), Cha Ji-yeon (Scent of a Woman), and Bae Yoo-ram (Zombie Detective).

On March 2, Taxi Driver unveiled the first character stills of Kim Eui-sung, who plays the role of Jang Sung-chul, the head of Rainbow Transport who takes charge of the revenge orders and punishing the perpetrators. In the released stills, Kim makes a 180-degree transformation from his sweet, grandfather-like personality to his ruthless CEO appearance.

In the first photos, Kim cheerfully participates in volunteer work and accepts an exemplary award for his service. However, in the last photos, his cheery vibe has disappeared, and his smile has turned into a dangerous scowl with cold, piercing eyes, transforming into a terrifying CEO of an undercover company.

Kim Eui-sung shared, “CEO Jang is a divisive character. He is a philanthropist working for the welfare of the victims of violent crimes and their families, and at the same time, he is a dark hero who pursues criminals and punishes them beyond the domain of the law. These two personalities of his coexist within himself without contradiction. The most important point of my preparation was to explore what kind of a person he might be and to find out what kind of person I will portray him as.”

Taxi Driver will premiere on April 9, following the conclusion of Penthouse 2.

It was Princess Lulu who first introduced her to Korean dramas but it was Yoon Ji-hoo from Boys Over Flowers who enticed her to stay in K-dramaland. She writes news and features for Kdramapal, which combines two of her most favorite things in the world—writing and K-dramas (look who's living the dream). The name Luna literally translates to "moon" and nothing special; she just likes writing at night.
