Kim Da-mi, Jeon So-nee, Byun Woo-seok confirmed to headline Korean remake of Chinese film ‘Soul Mate’

Upcoming Korean remake of the popular 2016 Chinese movie Soul Mate has found its lead cast in rising stars Kim Da-mi, Jeon So-nee, and Byun Woo-seok.

The original work was based on the novel of the same name by Anni Baobei. It follows the coming-of-age journey of two best friends who first met at the age of 13 and the love triangle that tears them apart when they both fall for the same guy. Now in their 30s, their peaceful lives get disrupted once again when a chronicle of their friendship gets published, unleashing an uncontrollable surge of bittersweet memories and secrets.

Directed by Derek Tsang (Better Days), the film gained quite a number of nominations and recognition from award-giving bodies for its remarkable depiction of friendship, love, jealousy, humility, and forgiveness. Its successful reception inspired the first Chinese remake for the film, the 2019 series Another Me.

Though specific details about the characters of Kim Da-mi, Jeon So-nee, and Byun Woo-seok in the movie are yet to be officially announced, the lineup of the young stars would most likely be taking on the Korean counterparts of protagonists Li Ansheng, Lin Qiyue, and Su Jiaming, respectively played by Chinese actors Zhou Dongyu, Sandra Ma, and Toby Lee.

Meanwhile, Jeon So-nee is a newcomer to the entertainment industry and has been slowly building up her repertoire through notable appearances in After My Death (2018), Jo Pil-ho: The Dawning Rage (2019), and Ghost Walk (2019).

Joining Kim and Jeon is actor Byun Woo-seok who is on to make his big-screen debut in the current film. Byun is best known for his performance in the series Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency (2019). He is also gearing up for the premiere of his upcoming drama Record of Youth (2020) where he will be acting alongside Park Bo-gum and Park So-dam.
