Kim Ah-joong in discussions to join upcoming series ‘Zero’

Award-winning actress Kim Ah-joong is being courted to star in the upcoming drama Zero.

On April 16, an official from Zero’s production company Ace Factory shared with Korean media outlet Hankook Ilbo, “Kim Ah-joong is in discussions to appear [in the drama] as the female protagonist.”

Zero is described as a television project that will combine science fiction and chase thriller. Apart from its genre, not much information about the plot of the drama or its characters has been disclosed to the public. Some of the actors who have received proposals to appear in the series are Seo Kang-joon (When the Weather Is Fine), Chun Woo-hee (Be Melodramatic), Kim Mu-yeol (Bad Guys: Vile City), and Lee Si-young (Sweet Home).

Kim Ah-joong is best known for headlining the critically acclaimed, romantic-comedy film 200 Pounds Beauty (2006). In the field of dramas, she has appeared in Sign (2011), Punch (2014–2015), and Wanted (2016), among others. If she accepts the offer to join Zero, she will be making her small-screen comeback after four years. She was last seen as one of the lead stars of the 2017 fantasy-historical series Live Up to Your Name.

Zero is penned by Lee Soo-yeon, who worked on the two seasons of the tvN drama Stranger (2017, 2020). It will be helmed by Lee Khan of the film The Divine Move 2: The Wrathful (2019). The series is reportedly discussing its release through over-the-top (OTT) streaming service Disney Plus, which will be launched in South Korea within the year.
