Rising actress Kang Han-na is currently in talks for a possible team-up with stars Jang Ki-yong and Lee Hye-ri in the upcoming romantic fantasy series Frightening Cohabitation.
Kang’s agency Fantagio has revealed on the morning of September 2, “Kang Han-na received an offer to appear in the drama Frightening Cohabitation and is positively reviewing it.”
Based on a web comic of the same name, Frightening Cohabitation tells the story of Lee Dam, a female college student who accidentally swallows the mystical orb of Shin Woo-yeo, a gumiho (mythical nine-tailed fox) that has taken on a human form. As if living together is not hard enough, they also need to find a way to take out the orb before it breaks inside Lee Dam’s body after one year and harms them both.
Following her small-screen debut in the MBC romantic-comedy series Miss Korea (2013–2014), Kang Han-na went to play support roles in MBC’s Mom (2015–2016) and JTBC’s Secret Healer (2016). She then rose to fame for her portrayal of an evil queen in SBS’s popular historical drama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016), earning her a nomination for Best New Actress at the prestigious 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards. Since then, she has assumed major roles in various television works, including Rain or Shine (2017–2018), Familiar Wife (2018), and Designated Survivor: 60 Days (2019). If negotiations for her participation in the upcoming series would push through, Kang could be joining stars Jang Ki-yong (Born Again) and Lee Hye-ri (Miss Lee), who received offers earlier to headline the drama as Shin Woo-yeo and Lee Dam, respectively.
Meanwhile, Kang Han-na is set to grace the prime-time slot this October in tvN’s youth drama Start-Up, acting closely with lead stars Bae Suzy and Nam Joo-hyuk.
Frightening Cohabitation, also known as A Terrifying Cohabitation, will be helmed by director Baek Seung-ryong, who also previously worked on the adaptation of a webtoon into the 2019 series Pegasus Market. The new drama is under discussion to broadcast via tvN in the second half of the year.
