Kang Ha-neul, Chun Woo-hee invoke 2000s nostalgia in stills from upcoming movie

Upcoming movie Endless Rain has dropped still images featuring lead actors Kang Ha-neul and Chun Woo-hee

Endless Rain is a romance movie about a man and a woman who exchange letters without ever having met. They become each other’s source of comfort during difficult times and eventually make a plan to meet on December 31, but only if it rains on that day. Kang Ha-neul (Forgotten, I Have a Date With Spring) stars as Park Young-ho, a struggling student attempting to clear college exams for the third time. He writes a letter to his old schoolmate So-young (Lee Seol, My Punch-Drunk Boxer), but So-young is ill, so it is her sister So-hee who replies. Chun Woo-hee (Vertigo) plays So-hee, who pretends to be her sister So-young in the letters.

The film is set in 2003 and invokes a lot of nostalgia for people who went to college around that time. Young-ho is described as a character who is always worrying about his present and future, and as a result, he will be relatable to people going through similar struggles. However, he also possesses the fervor and optimism only people in their youth can possess and will show the charm of a young man in love whose heart flutters with every letter he receives from his childhood friend.

In Kang Ha-neul’s still images, he is seen reading a letter with the biggest grin on his face. His hair is long and unkempt in a true college-student style. The second image shows him drinking coffee on a winter night, with a worried expression on his face. In the final image, he is seen in a warehouse-setting, wearing overalls and painting something with the utmost concentration on his face.

Chun Woo-hee’s So-hee is described as a character who lives bravely without losing hope, despite having a difficult life. When she begins exchanging letters with Young-ho, she feels joy, consolation, gratitude, and also guilt for lying to him and pretending to be her sister. In Chun Woo-hee’s still images, she is seen looking young and impressionable at a store for handbags. In the second image, she is at her job—running an old bookstore with her mother, while sporting short hair and bangs. The final image shows her looking conflicted, standing in front of a letterbox, holding a letter in her hand.
