Kang Ha-neul cast in upcoming suspense drama from JTBC

Award-winning star Kang Ha-neul will appear in the upcoming suspense-action drama Insider.

On separate news reports released on February 10, an official from JTBC and a representative from Ace Factory, the production company behind Insider, revealed that the actor has been chosen to portray the main character of the new series.

Insider will follow Kim Yo-han, an apprentice at the Judicial Research and Training Institute. Yo-han is a cautious and peculiar person who is known for his poker face and his tendency to think ahead of his time. One day, during an investigation, he finds himself betrayed by a trusted colleague, sending his life in a downward spiral. To survive and change his fate, he vows to turn every crisis into an opportunity.

Kang Ha-neul, who has reportedly been roped in to portray Kim Yo-han, first stepped into the entertainment industry as a theater actor. In 2007, he began his venture in television projects, landing roles in notable dramas such as The Heirs (2013), Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016), and most recently, When the Camellia Blooms (2019). His exquisite performance in the latter earned him multiple distinctions, including the coveted Best Actor award at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards. He is set to make a special appearance in the upcoming KBS2 historical drama River Where the Moon Rises, which will premiere on February 15.

Insider will be spearheaded by director Min Yeon-hong of Missing: The Other Side (2020) and writer Moon Man-sae of Priest (2018 –2019). It is slated for broadcast during the second half of 2021.
