Kang Daniel in talks to headline upcoming Disney Plus Korean drama

Kang Daniel is being courted to make his acting debut in the upcoming Disney Plus Korean series Our Police Course.

Following news reports that the singer will appear in the drama, his agency KONNECT Entertainment shared to Korean media outlet Newsen, “Kang Daniel received an offer to appear in Our Police Course. He is positively reviewing it.”

Our Police Course is described as a youth campus drama that will explore the stories of dreams, love, struggles, and ambitions of students who have entered the Korean National Police University, one of the most conservative universities in the country.

Kang is in discussions to play Hwi Seung-hyun, the son of the head of the Dongbu Police Agency in Gyeonggi Province and a first-year student at the police academy. Apart from his good looks and intelligence, he is also as loyal as any person can get. He wants to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue the path to becoming a police officer. However, when he meets a woman named Go Eun-gang and gets involved with her, his life takes an unexpected turn.

Kang Daniel (born Kang Eui-geon) rose to fame in 2017 when he bagged the first place in the second installment of the survival reality show Produce 101. Within the same year, he debuted in the entertainment industry as a member of the boy band Wanna One. In 2019, after his last activities with his group and a dispute with his then agency, Kang pursued a solo career with his own established entertainment company. The idol has reportedly received several acting offers prior to Our Police Course but has decided to focus on his music career.

Along with Our Police Course, reports revealed that over-the-top (OTT) streaming service Disney Plus is assertively securing content in preparation for its scheduled launch in South Korea this year.
