Jung Yu-mi is all set up to fight jellies in new stills from ‘The School Nurse Files’

The School Nurse Files has recently released the character stills of lead cast member Nam Joo-hyuk (The Light in Your Eyes) and has followed up with another set, this time, of Jung Yu-mi (Live).

The Netflix original series centers on a school nurse, Ahn Eun-young, who has the special ability to see human greed enclosed in jelly-like orbs. These jellies, which are invisible to ordinary people, are everywhere. Nurse Eun-young fights them, with a brightly colored sword and gun, to protect the students in the school.

The unveiled stills feature Ahn Eun-young, a newly appointed nurse at Magnolia High School. The cabinet, which can be seen behind Eun-young in the dimly lit health room, is tightly closed during the day and the students’ visiting hours. Inside the storage are various religious items from around the world, ranging from amulets to crosses, that Eun-young uses to recharge her energy.

With her white coat and intense expression, Eun-young easily stands out. In the eyes of the ordinary people who cannot see the jellies, she looks like a crazy person whispering to the walls while holding a rainbow sword and a BB gun.

Classical Chinese teacher Hong In-pyo (Nam Joo-hyuk) is Eun-young’s colleague who becomes her sidekick. When his curiosity leads to the unsealing of a long-locked chamber of jellies in the school basement, the jellies multiply rapidly, putting the whole school in danger.

The incident makes him accidentally discover something about himself. When Eun-young holds In-pyo’s hand, he mysteriously recharges Eun-young’s special ability. This “power” makes him different from the others, which displeases him, but he is as committed as Eun-young in fighting the jellies to protect the school and the students.

It was reported that Jung Yu-mi was already unanimously recommended for the role of Ahn Eun-young by the readers of the novel, even before the news of the casting was revealed. When asked about her character, Jung Yu-mi said, “I usually choose a character with the intention to give comfort to the audience, but Ahn Eun-young strangely gives that comfort to me. I thought that it would be nice if those who watched my character would also feel those feelings throughout the series.”

She also added, “[Eun-young seems] weird yet tough and blunt, but she’s actually a friendly person. Although she does not like it, she silently accepts her fate and fights the jellies.”

The School Nurse Files will premiere on Netflix this coming September 25 at 4 p.m. and will be available for streaming in over 190 countries.
