Jung Yong-hwa plays curious tourist in latest ‘The Package’ poster

JTBC’s The Package has released another character poster, this time for the lead male character played by CNBLUE’s Jung Yong-hwa. The actor is playing a heartbroken tourist wandering around the gorgeous and historic towns of Saint-Malo and Honfleur, France.

In the poster, Jung Yong-hwa is shown with a curious glance as he looks intently at something partially covered by a curtain. The backdrop seems like a shop or a restaurant, representing just one of the many places his character will be visiting during the trip in northwestern France. The Package is a travel romance drama about a group of tourists visiting the European country for different reasons. He plays one of the tourists, San Ma-roo, who stands out as the only solo traveler in the group and is destined to fall in love with their tour guide Yoon So-so, played by Lee Yeon-hee (Reunited Worlds).

The singer-actor, leader and lead vocalist of the rock band CNBLUE, is returning to the small screen in less than three weeks after a three-year hiatus. Her last television series was tvN’s period drama in 2014, The Three Musketeers, which marked his second leading role following Heartstrings in 2011. He revealed that San Ma-roo is one of the best characters he ever played and that he got attracted to the drama because of its fresh concept. In addition, he described him as someone who acts like an idiot because of his purely instinctive character. This attitude has driven San Ma-roo to travel alone unexpectedly in a faraway country while still going through the aftermath of his recent breakup with a lover. Jung Yong-hwa, through his character in the drama, wanted to convey the message to the viewers that faithfully following your instinct sometimes leads you to the right answer that will solve your problem.

The Package, which will take over Age of Youth 2‘s Friday-Saturday time slot on October 13, is the latest completely pre-produced drama to be broadcast this year in Korea and the third one on JTBC, following Man to Man and Woman of Dignity. The cable network aired the two series consecutively in the last five months and reaped positive results in viewership ratings.

Me? Just an ordinary lad with an extraordinary (says this something called 'stereotype') habit of watching Korean dramas. It started with action-filled City Hunter and the rest, as they say, is history.
