Jung So-min, Kim Ji-seok confirmed to headline new rom-com drama ‘Monthly House’

Acting stars Jung So-min and Kim Ji-seok have reportedly confirmed to pair up in the upcoming JTBC series Monthly House (literal title).

Monthly House revolves around the ins and outs of real estate business and tells the story of a woman who is in dire search of a house that she can finally call her own and a man whose expertise is buying houses. It aims to answer the question, “What exactly does a house mean to those who live in it?”

Jung So-min will transform into Na Young-won, an editor for a magazine called “Monthly House.” She has 10 years of experience in the field, but within that span of time, she had been barely making ends meet mainly because of the high rental fees that she pays every month. Also, even if her house is only rented, Young-won puts in incredible effort to clean and decorate it for she believes that her home is a place where she can be herself and let loose all of her emotions. However, after meeting the wicked new owner of her rented house, she finally decides to take a huge leap by looking for and investing in her own house.

Jung has become widely known for her performances in television dramas such as Playful Kiss (2010), Hundred Million Stars From the Sky (2018), and Soul Mechanic (2020).

Meanwhile, Kim Ji-seok will suit up as Yoo Ja-sung, CEO of the “Monthly House” magazine. Driven by his belief that the only way to get rich in Korea is through real estate business, he did everything he can to excel in it. He studied during the day, worked in a restaurant in the evening, went to construction sites on weekends, and reduced the time he allotted for sleep so he can self-study in the early morning. Now, he has succeeded in becoming a famous real estate investment expert. However, even after all his struggles, he has regarded houses as mere properties that people go to in the evening so they could sleep for a while. That is until he gets entangled with Young-won and begins questioning his own principles.

Among Kim’s highly praised works are the series Top Star Yoo Baek (2018), When the Camellia Blooms (2019), and My Unfamiliar Family (2020).

Monthly House will be helmed by director Lee Chang-min of the two-season series Welcome to Waikiki (2018, 2019), while screenwriter Myung Soo-hyun of A Poem a Day (2018) is set to pen the script. The rom-com drama is slated to broadcast in the first half of 2021.
