Jung Da-bin, Hwang Min-hyun confirm casting in upcoming JTBC drama

Upcoming JTBC youth romance drama Live On has confirmed its lead actors—boy group NU’EST’s Hwang Min-hyun (known mononymously as Minhyun) and former child actress Jung Da-bin.

On June 26, it was announced that Minhyun and Jung Da-bin will take the lead in the drama that is being co-produced by three companies—Playlist Studio, known for popular web dramas like Love Playlist (2017); KeyEast Entertainment, who specialize in youth dramas like Dream High (2011) and At Eighteen (2019); and JTBC Studios.

Live On (tentative title) will revolve around two high schoolers—Baek Ho-rang and Go Eun-taek. While Ho-rang is one of the most popular girls in the school and a social media star, Eun-taek is a serious and detail-oriented leader of the school’s broadcasting club. Despite being popular for her good looks, Ho-rang only has one friend because of her narcissistic personality. Eun-taek, however, has a lot of friends. The two team up to catch a mysterious person when Ho-rang joins the broadcasting club.

Minhyun and Jung Da-bin will be playing Go Eun-taek and Baek Ho-rang, respectively. While this is Minhyun’s first official drama since debuting as an idol and appearing in Reckless Family 3 (2013), Jung Da-bin was most recently seen in the Netflix series Extracurricular (2020). VICTON’s Byungchan and former MOMOLAND member Yeonwoo are also in talks for the show.

The eight-episode drama will be penned by popular web drama writer Bang Yoo-jung and will be directed by Kim Sang-woo, who has worked on hits like Extraordinary You (2019) and My Mister (2018).

Live On is aiming to premiere in the second half of 2020.
