Jun Ji-hyun says she brags about zombie co-actors from ‘Kingdom: Ashin of the North’

Korean superstar Jun Ji-hyun has detailed her adorable reaction upon meeting zombie actors for the first time in the set of her highly awaited Kingdom spin-off, Kingdom: Ashin of the North.

On July 20, director Kim Sung-hoon, writer Kim Eun-hee, actor Park Byung-eun (Oh My Baby), and a majestical-looking Jun Ji-hyun (The Legend of the Blue Sea) graced a virtual press conference hosted by Netflix for the upcoming Kingdom special episode. The exclusive event was attended by over a hundred media representatives and independent journalists from across the Asia-Pacific region.

During the question-and-answer segment, a member of the press threw the light-hearted question, “Were you ever scared of all the ‘zombies’ on set?” Jun thoughtfully answered, “No, not at all. In fact, even before we began filming, one of the things that I was most excited about was coming face-to-face with the actors who dressed as zombies.”

The 39-year-old screen icon also shared her realization after personally meeting the “zombies,” saying, “When I got there on the set, I witnessed up-close just how much trouble all of the actors had to go through to be able to present themselves as convincing zombies.”

Jun then laughed as she recalled some of the things that she did with the said actors, “I don’t know if I can say this, but I begged them for pictures as well, so I was able to take pictures with them and really bragged about them to my friends and family.”

Slated for a worldwide premiere on July 23, Kingdom: Ashin of the North revolves around the tragedy and betrayal that falls upon Ashin (Jun Ji-hyun), Yeojin tribe’s successor and the one who discovered the mysterious properties of the resurrection plant. The 92-minute special episode will follow her as she sets out on a dangerous quest to avenge the death of her family and of her people.
