Within 24 hours after its broadcast on JTBC, Kim Ha-neul, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Lee Do-hyun’s new series 18 Again is set to air on K-PLUS, the ultimate Korean entertainment network.
Based on the 2009 American film 17 Again, the 16-episode romantic fantasy drama premiered locally on September 21 and took over JTBC’s Monday-Tuesday, 9:30 p.m. (KST) time slot. Granting the wishes of international viewers and fans, K-PLUS has announced to simulcast the series every Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (Indonesia) or 8:00 p.m. (Philippines and Malaysia) beginning September 22. On top of that, the cable channel will also be running encores on Sundays at 9:30 p.m. in Indonesia and 10:30 p.m. in the other two countries.
18 Again depicts the story of a middle-aged man who is on the verge of divorce but miraculously finds himself back in his 18-year-old body, the prime age of his life.
It centers on the characters Jung Da-jung (Kim Ha-neul, The Wind Blows) and Hong Dae-young (Yoon Sang-hyun, Hold Me Tight), a couple who have been married for 18 years and share teenager twins. Dae-young was a hot athlete back in high school and was every girl’s first love. However, he destroyed himself by drinking and smoking and eventually ended up as an icon of drastic change. He subsequently gets fired from his job and has since been looked down upon by his family.
Meanwhile, Da-jung works hard as a rookie announcer, and she has a sincere heart. However, already fed up with her husband’s constant shortcomings, she finally hands him the divorce papers. Feeling pathetic and hopeless, Dae-young goes back to his high school and makes a wish to go back in time by throwing a basketball. His wish was granted, and he took it as his second chance to start a new life. He changes his name to Go Woo-young (Lee Do-hyun, Hotel del Luna) with the aim of journeying straight to the path of greatness, only to find himself drawn back to his first and last love, his wife Da-jung.
18 Again is helmed by director Ha Byung-hoon of Go Back Couple (2017) and has employed the collaboration of screenwriters Kim Do-yeon, Ahn Eun-bin, and Choi Yi-ryun.
