‘Joseon Exorcist’ actress Lee Yu-bi joins cast of Kim Go-eun’s ‘Yumi’s Cells’

Actress Lee Yu-bi has confirmed her next project as the potential tvN drama Yumi’s Cells

The actress’ agency Ybloom Entertainment confirmed that she will be starring in Yumi’s Cells, scheduled to air in the second half of the year. 

Based on a webtoon of the same name, Yumi’s Cells will depict the life of 32-year-old officer worker named Yumi through the point of view of her brain cells. Kim Go-eun (The King: Eternal Monarch) will be essaying the titular role of Yumi, while courted to act opposite her is Ahn Bo-hyun (Kairos). Recently, SHINee’s Minho (Lovestruck in the City) was confirmed to be in talks for a special appearance on the show as Yumi’s unrequited crush. 

Lee Yu-bi has been cast to play Ruby, Yu-mi’s charming co-worker. Although Yumi and Ruby start off as rivals, soon a close friendship develops between the two where they support each other. Lee Yu-bi began her acting career with supporting roles in shows like Gu Family Book (2013) and Pinocchio (2014–2015). She took on her first leading role opposite Lee Joon-gi in Scholar Who Walks the Night (2015). She was last seen in the controversial SBS drama Joseon Exorcist (2021), which was cancelled after just two episodes

Yumi’s Cells has been co-written by Song Jae-jung (Memories of the Alhambra), Kim Yoon-joo (Find Me in Your Memory), and Kim Kyung-ran. Lee Sang-yeob of Familiar Wife (2018) and A Piece of Your Mind (2020) is directing the show.
