Screen star Jo Jung-suk is serenading viewers once again with his rendition of the song “I Like You.”
A modern remake of its 1996 acoustic version, “I Like You” is produced as part of the original soundtracks (OSTs) for Jo’s ongoing Thursday drama Hospital Playlist 2. The track was first played on the series’ fifth episode, which aired July 15 and officially dropped across major South Korean music sites today, July 16.
The musical arrangement for “I Like You” was done by Jayins and Naiv, the same duo behind the season’s first OST “Rain and You.” “Instead of the acoustic feel from the original arrangement, we tried to give a retro touch on ‘I Like You’ by using electronic sounds. The change was made to bring out Jo Jung-suk’s heartwarming, sweet tone,” Jayins and Naiv remarked on the newly released OST.
Hospital Playlist 2 is the highly anticipated second installment to tvN’s hit medical drama about five doctors who share a 20-year friendship and have the same passion for music. Aside from Jo Jung-suk (Nokdu Flower), the drama stars Yoo Yeon-seok (Mr. Sunshine), Jung Kyung-ho (When the Devil Calls Your Name), Jeon Mi-do (Mother), and Kim Dae-myung (The Sound of Your Heart).
Aside from impressing viewers with his portrayal of Doctor Lee Ik-jun in the first season, Jo also sang his first OST for the series titled “Aloha,” which later became a huge hit and bagged five distinctions from famous music award shows.
