Jo Hye-joo joins ‘A Love So Beautiful’ remake cast

For fans of the popular Chinese romance series A Love So Beautiful, starring Hu Yitian and Shen Yue, who have been anticipating its Korean remake, good news! Actors are slowly confirming their parts in the new series.

Actress Jo Hye-joo is one of the most recent ones to confirm her appearance. She will join lead stars WEi’s Yohan (Kim Yo-han), who will make his acting debut in the upcoming series, So Joo-yeon (Dr. Romantic 2), and Yeo Hoe-hyun (Leverage).

The drama tells the seemingly unrequited love of a hopeless-romantic, 17-year-old high school student Shin Sol-yi (So Joo-yeon) for her next-door neighbor. She is clumsy, cheerful, and optimistic. She openly confesses her feelings to Cha Heon (Yohan), a.k.a. her Mr. Perfect. Cha Heon has good looks, tops the school’s academic rankings, and is a campus celebrity. However, he has an aloof attitude and dislikes socializing. When new transfer student Woo Dae-sung (Yeo Hoe-hyun) starts pursuing Sol-yi, Cha Heon also begins showing Sol-yi his feelings.

Jo Hye-joo will play Sol-yi’s best friend Kang Ha-young, whom Sol-yi trusts and tells all her secrets to. Ha-young is described as loyal, fiesty, and has a lot of dreams. Jo has expressed her gratitude in being able to work in the remake, saying, “I am happy to be part of the remake of A Love So Beautiful, where you can relate and reminisce your school days. I will work hard to be able to give you all a good performance.”

Jo Hye-joo is a rising rookie who has previously starred in the 2019 dramas Big Issue, He Is Psychometric, and Search: WWW. Her most recent appearance is in Memorist, which aired in March 2020.

A Love So Beautiful garnered 3.7 billion views when it first aired in China in 2017. It became an instant hit internationally, especially in Asian countries.

The K-drama remake will be optimized for mobile viewing and released via a new platform by KakaoM and Kakao. It will have a total of 24 episodes, with each lasting for 20 minutes, and aims to premiere within this year.

It was Princess Lulu who first introduced her to Korean dramas but it was Yoon Ji-hoo from Boys Over Flowers who enticed her to stay in K-dramaland. She writes news and features for Kdramapal, which combines two of her most favorite things in the world—writing and K-dramas (look who's living the dream). The name Luna literally translates to "moon" and nothing special; she just likes writing at night.
