Ji Chang-wook and Kim Yoo-jung are all set to do a drama together in Convenience Store Saet-byul, the TV adaptation of a record-breaking webtoon of the same name with over 57 million views.
The casting of the actors was announced on January 29 by the producers of the drama, which will be broadcast on pay television channel Lifetime.
Convenience Store Saet-byul will tell the story of a good-looking but surprisingly silly man named Choi Dae-hyun, to be played by Ji Chang-wook (Melting Me Softly), whose almost pitiful nature invokes sympathy in people. Choi starts running a convenience store after having left his job in a big company.
While managing the store, Choi hires a university student named Jung Saet-byul for night shifts—a role that will be portrayed by Kim Yoo-jung (Clean With Passion For Now). He had met Jung several years ago when she was a high school student and a troublemaker. Now, she is a strong-willed woman guided by her innate sense of justice and morality.
Convenience Store Saet-byul will be helmed by Lee Myung-woo, the PD of the hit 2019 SBS drama The Fiery Priest. The drama is aiming for broadcast in fall this year.
