Ji Chang-wook, Kim Ji-won’s ‘City Couple’s Way of Love’ to air on Netflix

Aside from its original network, City Couple’s Way of Love will also air on streaming giant Netflix, as confirmed by Kakao M.

On November 24th, Kakao M announced, “KakaoTV’s original drama City Couple’s Way of Love, which will be released for the first time on December 8 at 5 p.m. KST., will be available for streaming worldwide on Netflix two hours after [it airs on KakaoTV]. “

The romantic-comedy drama is a short series depicting different love stories of people from all walks of life as they forge their path towards love and happiness in the busy city. The first story in the series My Lovable Camera Thief stars Ji Chang-wook (Backstreet Rookie) as a passionate architect who cannot get over the woman he calls the “camera thief,” for taking away his heart a year ago before disappearing all of a sudden. Kim Ji-won (Arthdal Chronicles) stars opposite him as a marketing freelancer who meets and falls for Ji Chang-wook’s character under a fake identity.

Kakao M believes that partnering with the streaming giant will be beneficial to both parties, saying, “This will be a great opportunity to show Kakao M’s well-made digital dramas as presented by the hardworking production crew and actors to the viewers not only in Korea but also across the globe,” they explained. “We plan to continue to push for new attempts and collaborations with various partners to spread the experience and convenience of streaming mobile content, focusing on Kakao M’s digital content that will also be optimized for mobile viewing.”

Produced on a seasonal basis, the 12-episode drama will run for only 30 minutes per episode. Aside from Ji Chang-wook and Kim Ji-won, more stars are cast in the series with their own love stories. Kim Min-seok (Because This Is My First Life) and So Joo-yeon (Dr. Romantic 2) portray long time lovers, while Ryu Kyung-soo (Itaewon Class) plays an overconfident bachelor who has to deal with his bitter ex-girlfriend, played by Han Ji-eun (Kkondae Intern).

Director Park Shin-woo, who was behind the sensational romance healing drama It’s Okay To Not Be Okay (2020) and the popular and successful dramas Hyde, Jekyll, Me (2015) and Jealousy Incarnate (2016), is helming the production of City Couple’s Way of Love: My Lovable Camera Thief. Meanwhile, screenwriters Jung Hyun-jung of Romance Is a Bonus Book (2019) and Jung Da-yeon will be working together to pen the script.

Luna

It was Princess Lulu who first introduced her to Korean dramas but it was Yoon Ji-hoo from Boys Over Flowers who enticed her to stay in K-dramaland. She writes news and features for Kdramapal, which combines two of her most favorite things in the world—writing and K-dramas (look who's living the dream). The name Luna literally translates to "moon" and nothing special; she just likes writing at night.
