It’s official! Stars Ji Chang-wook, Choi Sung-eun, and Hwang In-yeop are set to headline the upcoming Netflix Korean original series The Sound of Magic.
The Sound of Magic is described as an emotion-packed music drama about a girl who badly wants to grow up and a mysterious magician who wishes to live as a carefree child ever after becoming an adult. Its story is based on the 2010 webtoon “Annarasumanara” by writer Ha Il-kwon, which has also been adapted into a play.
Ji Chang-wook will transform into Lee Eul, a strange magician who lives in an abandoned amusement park. Famous for his roles in the dramas Melting Me Softly (2019), Backstreet Rookie (2020), and Lovestruck in the City (2020–2021), Ji is anticipated make another amazing portrayal of his complex new character.
Meanwhile, Choi Sung-eun will breathe life to the female protagonist Yun Ai, an ordinary high school student who longs to become a great magician. However, her hard life made her cast that dream aside, until she meets Lee Eul and begins a magical journey with him. Choi recently impressed viewers with her convincing performance in the drama Beyond Evil (2021).
Taking on the role of Yun Ai’s classmate Na Il-deung is True Beauty (2020–2021) actor Hwang In-yeop. Il-deung is an aloof student who is too absorbed in his studies, but when he witnesses the power of magic along with Lee Eul and Yun Ai, his perspective in life begins to change.
The Sound of Magic is a reunion project of director Kim Sung-yoon and screenwriter Kim Min-jung, who previously worked together in the historical-romantic drama Love in the Moonlight (2016). Jointly produced by JTBC Studios and Zium Content, the series is slated to stream exclusively on Netflix in over 190 countries worldwide.
