Rising actress Jeon Yeo-bin has been proposed to lead in the upcoming drama Vincenzo, a source from Total Variety Network (tvN) revealed on June 11.
Vincenzo will tell the story of a mafia consigliere or an advisor to the boss who comes to Korea from Italy due to arising conflicts within the organization. However, he finds himself tangled up in a new predicament not long after.
The main protagonist, Vincenzo Casano, was adopted and sent to Italy at the age of eight. He grew up to be a brilliant lawyer with impressive negotiation skills and great charisma. When he comes back to Korea, he gets tied up with Hong Cha-young, a vicious lawyer who does all sorts of evil things just to win cases. They both get head to head as Vincenzo decides to become a villainous seeker of justice.
Details on the character offered to Jeon Yeo-bin are still under wraps but if the actress accepts the project, it is set to become her fourth drama yet. Compared to her active involvement in films, Jeon is still relatively new to the field of television acting. Her previous small-screen appearances were in OCN’s mystery thriller Save Me (2017) and tvN’s police drama Live (2018). In 2019, she landed her first lead role in JTBC’s romantic comedy Be Melodramatic.
Although Jeon and the production crew of the current series are still discussing, it would be a piece of exciting news for her growing fan base if they see her lead in a drama again soon.
Vincenzo is reported to be helmed by director Kim Hee-won of The Crowned Clown (2019) and penned by The Fiery Priest (2019) screenwriter Park Jae-bum. It is targeting to air in the second half of the year.
