Jeon Bae-soo returns as original cast member in ‘Stranger 2’

Actor Jeon Bae-soo will be appearing in the second season of the tvN crime thriller Stranger, which is set to premiere this August 15.

On August 7, the actor’s agency has confirmed his return to Stranger 2 as First Lieutenant Choi Yoon-soo, a team leader at the Yongsan Police Station. His role as a group leader will be crucial in their team play, as his juniors all look up to him like an older brother.

Stranger 2 will star Cho Seung-woo (Life), Bae Doo-na (Kingdom 2), Lee Joon-hyuk (365: Repeat the Year), and Yoon Se-ah (Melting Me Softly) and new cast members Jeon Hye-jin (Search: WWW) and Choi Moo-sung (Arthdal Chronicles). The new series will pick up where the story left off in the previous season, where lone prosecutor Hwang Shi-mok and detective Han Yeo-jin met and worked together on a case. This time, the Prosecutor’s Office and the police are on the opposing sides, as each side wants complete control and investigative authority over the other. Amidst the tension from both parties, Prosecutor Hwang and Detective Han will chase after the truth of a hidden case.

A commercial success, the first season won the Daesang (Grand Prize) at the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards back in 2018 and was listed as one of The New York Times’s Best International TV Shows of 2017.

Aside from Stranger 2, Jeon Bae-soo will also appear in the much-anticipated Netflix original All of Us Are Dead, a zombie thriller series that follows a group of students fighting their way out of their school while in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. It is scheduled to premiere on 2021.

Jeon has played many memorable characters in popular series over the years such as Fight for My Way (2017), My Lawyer, Mr. Joe 2: Crime and Punishment (2019), Haechi (2019), When the Camellia Blooms (2019), and most recently, The King: Eternal Monarch, which aired this year.

Director Park Hyun-suk (Just Dance) and scriptwriter Lee Soo-yeon (Life) will be spearheading Stranger‘s second season.

It was Princess Lulu who first introduced her to Korean dramas but it was Yoon Ji-hoo from Boys Over Flowers who enticed her to stay in K-dramaland. She writes news and features for Kdramapal, which combines two of her most favorite things in the world—writing and K-dramas (look who's living the dream). The name Luna literally translates to "moon" and nothing special; she just likes writing at night.
