On February 18, there have been reports that multi-awarded actress Jang Na-ra has been courted to star in a drama tentatively titled VIP. Rawon Culture, the actress’ agency, confirmed that she received a casting offer but clarified that her appearance in the series has yet to be finalized.
An office mystery drama, VIP is about the rise of working women who run into troubles at work and in their personal lives. It was previously reported that actor Lee Sang-yoon was courted to play the male protagonist, Park Sung-joon. If Jang Na-ra accepts, she will play Park Sung-joon’s wife, Na Jung-sun, a strong woman who has a bright personality but has pains that a lot of people do not know of. It would be interesting to see the chemistry of both actors since they have yet to work together as the leads in a series.
Jang Na-ra is currently starring in the Wednesday-Thursday SBS drama The Last Empress opposite Choi Jin-hyuk. The 52-episode series recently made the headlines for topping the list of the most buzzworthy Korean dramas. Some of her well-received series include Successful Story of a Bright Girl (2002), My Love Patzzi (2002), Wedding (2005), and Go Back Couple (2017).
Meanwhile, Lee Sang-yoon appeared last year in About Time. He is currently shooting for a movie called Okay, Madame and is actively participating in the SBS variety show Master in the House. The actor is best known for his roles in Whisper (2017), On The Way To The Airport (2016), and Liar Game (2014)
VIP is slated to premiere in August on SBS.
