Labelmates Jang Ki-yong and Lee Soo-hyuk might jointly headline a new drama. On January 21, their agency YG Entertainment confirmed that the actors had been offered lead roles in the KBS2 mystery romance drama Born Again. They are in the middle of reviewing the script.
Born Again revolves around a complicated relationship between three people—a detective, a serial killer, and the person they both love. Their paths crossed years ago and led them to tragic fates. But all three are reborn after 32 years, this time as a prosecutor, a medical student, and an archaeologist, respectively. Their paths collide again in twisted ways.
Jang Ki-yong (Search: WWW) has been offered the role of the detective from the past who becomes a prosecutor in his second life. His character is described as arrogant and straightforward, but with a lot of passion for his work. He believes in expressing his opinions out loud, without a care for whether they make someone uncomfortable.
Meanwhile, Lee Soo-hyuk (Sweet Stranger and Me) is being courted to play the serial killer from the past who, in his new life, is a medical student. His character is known for his cold and aloof appearance. His magnetic and intimidating personality helps him subtly manipulate the people around him to his whims and fancies. If Kim accepts, this will be his first full-fledged drama role in four years, as well as his comeback after completing his military service.
Born Again will be helmed by PD Jin Hyung-wook and is aiming for an April 2020 broadcast.
