MBC’s upcoming historical drama The Red Sleeve Cuff has added another name to its cast! Actress Jang Hee-jin (Flower of Evil) is set to appear in the series.
Based on a popular novel, The Red Sleeve Cuff will depict the love story between King Jeongjo of Joseon and the Royal Noble Consort Ui-bin Seong. Lee Se-young (Kairos) and 2PM’s Lee Jun-ho (Confession) are set to headline the show, with Lee making his drama comeback after serving mandatory military service.
Jang Hee-jin will play Queen Jeongsun, who occupies the position of Queen Dowager during King Jeongjo’s reign. She is described as a calm, elegant, and determined queen—a character Jang is expected to do justice to. Jang began her career as a model in the top fashion magazines of the country before moving on to acting. She is best known for the dramas Spy Myeong-wol (2011) and Big (2012).
The Red Sleeve Cuff will be directed by Jung Ji-in of Hold Me Tight (2018), while the script has been penned by Jung Hae-ri, who wrote The Emperor: Owner of the Mask (2017). It is scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2021.
