Actor Jang Dong-yoon might return to the small screen soon!
According to his agency Dongyi Company on July 8, “Jang Dong-yoon has received an offer to appear in the upcoming series My Man Is Cupid and is positively reviewing it.”
My Man Is Cupid follows a fairy who falls in love with a human after being shot by his own arrow and a woman who lost her soulmate due to that match-making accident.
Jang Dong-yoon is being pulled in to portray a fairy named Cheon Sang-hyuk. He is the long-time owner of Sarangbang, a chain of high-end Korean restaurants in Jongno, Seoul. Sang-hyuk has burned his wings for 500 years, during which he has also has built an impenetrable fortress between him and women.
After making his television debut in the 2016 drama Solomon’s Perjury, Jang Dong-yoon set off on a steady ride to fame with notable performances in School 2017 (2017), A Poem a Day (2018), Mr. Sunshine (2018), and Just Dance (2018). In 2019, he got paired with actress Kim So-hyun in the drama The Tale of Nokdu, the work that earned him three wins and three nominations from various award-giving bodies.
This year, however, started roughly for the 28-year-old artist due to the cancellation of his recent project Joseon Exorcist. If he accepts the proposed role, the drama will mark Jang’s much-anticipated comeback from the project setback and will become his first take on the modern rom-com genre.
Produced by HB Entertainment and penned by screenwriter Heo Seong-hee, My Man Is Cupid is under discussion to begin filming in the second half of 2021.
