Following the release of teasers and character solo stills for It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, the upcoming tvN fantasy romance series has now shared promotional posters of its two lead stars Kim Soo-hyun and Seo Ye-ji.
It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, also known by its literal title Psycho but It’s Okay, tells the odd love story between psychiatric ward employee Moon Kang-tae (Kim Soo-hyun, The Producers) and famous children’s book author Go Moon-young (Seo Ye-ji, Lawless Lawyer).
The character posters radiate a mysterious atmosphere, made more magical by the little golden butterflies and the hazy-illumination effect of soft sunlight. Moon Kang-tae’s poster bears the statement, “If it is very hard to the point of wanting to end your life, then it is easier to escape,” imparting a fear of falling in love with somebody at the expense of his barely established inner peace.
Meanwhile, Go Moon-young appears goddess-like in the promo still, wearing an intricately embroidered, white pleated top that both contrasts and matches with Kang-tae’s plain white shirt. Her earth-toned look highlights a glorious mane of long wavy hair—a perfect manifestation of ethereal beauty. At the side, the words in her poster read, “Don’t forget, do not forget, overcome. If you can’t overcome it, you’re just a child whose soul doesn’t grow.”
The two visuals are then artistically joined together to unveil the two protagonists in a dramatic and affectionate back hug. Their facial expressions seem reserved, but their eyes convey a feeling of solitude, as if silently proclaiming a new-found sanctuary in one another.
The production staff of the drama said, “These character posters depict two people who yearn for warmth and comfort in an empty world. Please look forward to their individual stories and to how they will come together in healing each other’s hearts.”
It’s Okay to Not Be Okay is directed by Park Shin-woo of Encounter (2018–2019) and its strange tale is penned by screenwriter Jo Yong of Jugglers (2017–2018). It is only days away from its premiere on June 20 and is slated to air every Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 p.m. KST.
