The character teasers of Kim Hye-soo and Ju Ji-hoon for their upcoming legal drama Hyena are out.
The SBS drama centers on two elite private lawyers—played by Kim Hye-soo (Signal) and Ju Ji-hoon (Item)—who work solely for their own benefit. While Kim’s character blurs the lines between ethics and lawlessness in her quest for money, Ju’s finds loopholes and twists the law using his brilliant mind.
The two teasers have a confident yet comic vibe. Kim Hye-soo plays a lawyer name Jung Geum-ja, and her character teaser begins with a shot of a hyena in its natural habitat. The animal’s behavior is juxtaposed with the character. A voice narrates, “This hyena has top survival instincts. She is great at sniffing out money. Being the head of hyenas, she does not let go of her prey. She knows how to fight.”
Throughout the narration, Kim is seen fighting off anyone who tries to stop her, pursuing money, and hilariously gatecrashing a party under disguise. The 20-second teaser ends with her giving the camera a meaningful smirk.
Meanwhile, Ju Ji-hoon’s teaser follows pretty much the same structure. He plays Yoon Hee-jae, a brilliant young lawyer. The narration in his teaser goes, “This hyena is great at wrapping things up. He doesn’t waste time. He moves according to the system, not missing a single opportunity. He’s a smart opponent.”
Shown in the teaser are clips of Ju working meticulously, working out at a gym, confidently moving through a crowd of people, dealing with the press on his way to court, and having light moments with his colleagues.
Directed by Jang Tae-yoo (My Love From The Star), Hyena is set to premiere on February 21 as a Friday-Saturday drama that will replace Namgoong Min’s Stove League.
