The upcoming fantasy series from tvN has added a new member to its cast, with actor Hwang Hee confirming his appearance on the said series.
Tale of the Nine Tailed is a fantasy romance series about Lee Yeon, a gumiho (a nine-tailed fox in Korean myths) who settles in a city as a public official and catches the attention of Nam Ji-ah, a TV producer whose current program features urban myths. Joining in to add conflict is his half-gumiho, half-human stepbrother Lee Rang, who harbors deep hatred for humans. It stars Lee Dong-wook (Strangers from Hell), Jo Bo-ah (Forest), and Kim Bum (Mrs. Cop 2) in the roles of Lee Yeon, Ji-ah, and Lee Rang, respectively.
Hwang will play Shin-joo, a veterinarian who understands the hearts of animals and serves as an advisor for Ji-ah’s TV program. The actor has appeared in three other series in the past: his debut series Tomorrow with You (2017), Arthdal Chronicles (2019), and the most recent, Doctor John (2019). He is expected to show a new charm with his given role in this new project.
Hwang Hee recently expressed his excitement over the series, saying, “As soon as I opened the script, it was so intense that I read it from the start to the end. I am confident that I would be able to provide great fun to the viewers. I was able to join as a member of a great cast of Tale of the Nine Tailed and was given the character of Shin-joo. I want to work with the best staff and actors, including Director Kang Shin-hyo, Cho Nam-hyung, and other actors, to be able to deliver the fun and excitement that I am looking forward to in this series. I would like to ask for support from the viewers.”
The series has been attracting attention and raising expectations since it announced production due to its cast members and the fantasy plot with the added romance between a mythical creature and a human.
Tale of the Nine Tailed is scheduled for broadcast in October, taking over tvN’s Wednesday and Thursday time slot currently occupied by Flower of Evil. It will be led by director Kang Shin-hyo and writer Han Woo-ri, who previously worked together on the supernatural thriller Children of a Lesser God in 2018.
